Monthly update on The National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) - February 2024

Welcome to our monthly update on the National Underground Asset Register (NUAR), an interactive digital map of underground pipes and cables from the Geospatial Commission. It gives planners and excavators standardised access to the data they need, when they need it, to carry out their work effectively and safely. You can find out more on GOV.UK.

Onboarding ‘Core Cities’

We hit a major milestone with local authorities last month, having now signed Data Exploration Agreements with all of the ‘Core Cities’ in England and Wales. These agreements enable initial access to Asset Owner data and are a key step in the onboarding process.

NUAR Onboarding in 60 Webinars

If you are an underground asset owner that is not fully signed up to NUAR yet, why not join one of our new ‘NUAR Onboarding in 60’ webinars? Sarah McHale (AtkinsRéalis) and Sarah Currie (Geospatial Commission) will provide you with an overview of the onboarding journey, explain the legal agreements that underpin that process and confirm the next steps to progress your journey. Sign-up to our next session here: 12pm Wednesday 21 February.

Quarterly Updates

You can still sign-up for one of our Quarterly Update Webinars, designed to keep underground asset owners and their relevant suppliers up-to-date on all things NUAR. We decided to kick these off in February rather than January as previously advertised, so will now be holding two sessions with the same agenda, at 2pm on Friday 23 February and Monday 26 February. Click on your preferred date to sign-up.

Get onboard

If you work for an underground asset owner that operates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, that you do not think is fully signed up to NUAR yet, contact our onboarding team by completing our asset owner onboarding form.

If you are a contractor working on behalf of an asset owner, please contact them to see if they can provide you access.
